5/9/07 - Westfield Youth 1 Fleet Town Youth 4 - SYL
We continued our good start to the season with a disjointed performance at Westfield. Perhaps I was a little grumpy last night and over critical, but I just felt there was something missing from our performance. Having said that Westfield have caused us plenty of problems over the past couple of seasons so a 4-1 win, away from home, is a very credible result.
After a patchy start we took the lead on 6 mins when Sam Hamilton lobbed the advancing keeper. 1-0
On 18 mins a Gavin Muir freekick was met by a stumbling Shawn Foster (must have been playing in wellies!) who bulleted a header into the top corner from the edge of the box. 2-0
On 30 mins following some good interplay Gav rolled Sam H in who got his second. 3-0
On 45 mins with the last kick of the half (and his game) Derek Renfrew finished a lovely move. 4-0
Westfield started the 2nd half brightly and after a couple of close shaves got a goal back through a free header at the back post from a corner. They were queueing up to put it away. 4-1.
I never felt that the result was in doubt and that we always had more gears to go through, but we did seem a little lethargic and off the pace. However when we did get the ball down and play we looked threatening. It was just all to rare last night.
There's no time for lethargy or complacency next week when we face Woking, also undefeated, at home on Wednesday.
