Saturday 4th October 2003 - Day 21/273 - Chicago, Illinois

For a country so advanced, internet access via cafes is limited and really expensive. Wireless free dataports are numerous, so don't leave home without your laptop.

In the hotel business centre they offer internet access at $5.30 for 15 minutes that extortion. In the hostel it wasn't much better at $1 for 5 minutes.

We have found an Apple Mac shop that has numerous display models constantly on line. So checking E Mails was made possible. They didn't taken kindly to me trying to write my blog though. I have to admit it was a bit cheeky.

Strangely the cities seem to really empty at the weekends. Prehaps everyone retreats to there places in the country.

We strolled down the manmade beach in Chicago to the Navy Pier. No one was sunbathing as it's about 45f, a bit nippy. The Navy Pier offers plenty of tacky boutiques and a bit of fun too, with a ferris wheel and mini golf. From one of the said tacky boutiques I bought a personalized cap (pics to follow) as opposed to getting a hair cut. It was only $23 and the quality is surprisingly good. You guys will love it.

The Beach

Some really strange looking Condo's

In the evening we headed to the cinema to watch the new denzel Washington movie 'Out of Time'. I used to be really jealous of the Americans for getting to see movies way in advance of us. As usual Americans don't appreciate this. The flick was pretty good too.
