Saturday 17th July 2004 - Day 307/366 - Alice Springs, Northern Territory to Kings Creek Station, Northern Territory.

Rainbow Valley

Another day, another camping tour.  This time its a 3.5 day tour of the Red Centre again with Wayward.  I'm looking forward to it immensly apart from the fact that Alice Springs is the coldest place in Australia at the moment.

First stop was an eccentric road house again.  This time it was in Stuarts Well to see Dinky the singing Dingo.  It's more of a howl really to some one hitting the keys on the piano.

We stopped at Rainbow Valley which is a colourful ridge caused by evaporation, erosion and the iron in the earth.  It's not so spectacular, but worth a look and a photo opportunity.

We setup camp at Kings Creek Station, near Kings Canyon.  Originally setup as a cattle station it now provides good camping facilities and the opportunity to take a camel, helicopter or quad bike ride.

There were the normal first day uncertainties in the group.  I know the 3 canadian girls, who I think are stalking me and the Jap girl who was on my Kakadu and Darwin to Alice tour.  She's definately stalking me.  Thats the nature of Australia.  Also we've got a bird, Billy as our driver/guide.  She nice, but doesn't drink.
