Friday 2nd January 2004, Day 111/273 - Denver, Colorado.

The Ramada Inn offers a free shuttle within a 6 miles radius, so we took it up to Invesco Field at Mile High, the home of the Denver Broncos football team and took a $6 tour. The $400m stadium holds 76,000 people and they are all season ticket holders. They have 19,000 people on the waiting list and each game has been sold out for the last 30 years. I told you Denver people support their teams. Steve and Ben were impressed with the whole set-up, we all were.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy and some Superbowl Rings

Who's that prat in the silly hat

From here we walked up to the Pepsi Centre where we had tickets to watch the Lacrosse. The tickets cost $20 for good seats in the lower ring. This was a bit of a bonus for me as I've never seen this game before. The National Lacrosse League is a relatively new initiative and the rules have been made similar to ice hockey and basketball with shot clocks etc. to make it more exciting.

The Colorado Mammoth are playing the San Jose Stealth. The Mammoth are in their second season and the Stealth are in their first. The Mammoth won their division last season and have a very professional set-up. They've obviously spent some money in getting the best players together.

It's the opening night of the season and there's a great atmosphere. The Arena is packed with 17,689. The game itself is very rough, brutal at times, very quick and skilful and great to watch. The game itself was a little one sided.  Having conceded the first goal, the Mammoth came back to win it 17-8.

Hmmm Beer!

Just can't get away from them!
